| The original route of 5km was on the main road and should still be followed if doubtful about fitness. A more adventurous route follows the coastline round the foot of Dippen Head and Largybeg Point. It crosses a large boulder field but is possible for the reasonably fit walker. Start at the steps to the shore, marked on the map and follow the path, sometimes indistinct, between the cliff and the sea. The boulder field is reached after a few kilometres. Care is needed and it is easier at low tide. On reaching houses at Largybeg Point, go past them and climb to a stone circle (good view point). Follow a path alongside the sea till Whiting Bay is reached. Stay as close to the sea as possible to avoid mud and gorse. Cross three stiles and reach Whiting Bay. |
