| This stage is about 15km in length. From Sannox it follows the beach to the North Sannox Picnic Site, then through the forestry gate to the Fallen Rocks. Watch out for Dolphins and Basking Sharks. A further 6km on, Lagan Cottage is reached and shortly after, Lagan Harbour with the site of the Centipede Trail and Salt Pans. The Cock of Arran is another 6km, shortly followed by the Scriodan Rock Fall which can be difficult to negotiate at high tide. At low tide it is easy to bypass the rocks on the shore. Within another 2km the road is reached at Newton Shore. The paths on this stage are generally good, but with some muddy and rocky sections. However, the walk is quite long and should be taken seriously. There is an escape route at Lagan Cottage where a 4km path leads west over the hill to Lochranza. |
