| This section begins at the Forestry car park one kilometre south of Machrie. Follow the path for 2 kilometres till the King's Cave comes into view. Robert the Bruce is believed to have used it en route to taking the Scottish crown in 1314. Follow the path along the shore and then up the slope, ignoring the small path which runs along the foot of the cliff. The path bears to the right around the back of the Doon Fort. The fort is Iron Age and about 2,000 years old. The path crosses a field, then a gate onto the golf course.Turn left and follow the road to Blackwaterfoot. |  |
