ISLE OF ARRAN COASTAL WAY
HOME PAGE The Isle of Arran Coastal Way was opened by Cameron McNeish on Friday, March 28th 2003 at the North Sannox picnic area. Following the opening ceremony, the walk from North Sannox to Lochranza was completed. Cameron is the voice and recognised face of walking in Scotland and we are indebted to him for sparing the time to visit Arran and for opening the Way for us. He is the editor of the walking magazine 'The Great Outdoors' (TGO) and President of Ramblers Scotland. To most people though he is best known for his many TV programmes on Wilderness Walking in Scotland. He completed most of the Coastal Way over the weekend and was accompanied each day by a number of walkers both from Arran and the mainland. The weather throughout the entire weekend was wall to wall blue skies and sunshine and we are indebted to Cameron for bringing this with him. He left on the Monday after a modest champagne reception at the Tourist Information Centre and with our thanks ringing in his ears. All those who took part at any stage in the weekend activities will no doubt remember the event for a very long time. We all hope to welcome Cameron back in the not too distant future now that the Coastal Way is well established and well walked.
