The coastal (yellow) route has tougher underfoot conditions, which can be boggy and cattle trampled after rain, but provides fantastic wild coastal walking. Walkers can either cut up to the road at Sliddery or continue on the coast, crossing the Sliddery Burn, to the beautiful Cleats Shore. There is a (sometimes water covered) tractor ford at the Sliddery Burn but it is not recommended when the burn is in spate.
