This section starts with an easy stroll along Fisherman’s Walk to Cladach, where there is a cluster of shops. Walkers then have the choice to take the coastal route through Merkland Wood or alternatively climb to the summit of Goatfell (874m). From High Corrie to Sannox the route follows the coastal road, where there is plenty of wildlife to look out for.
Goatfell is recommended for fit walkers, competent at navigation, and not in bad weather or low cloud. There are no Coastal Way route markers once you enter the National Trust for Scotland land or on Goatfell itself.
