Preparations for the start / finish monument for the Arran Coastal Way are progressing well. In order to ecure a prime location on the seafront just near the ferry terminal, we are amending an existing flowerbed and siting the monument in its centre.
The plinth of the monument is made up of stones from around the whole of Arran, and features a copper topography of Arran as well as four tactile rubbing discs of Arran wildlife. Benches made from local Sannox larch wood will be added around the inside and outside of the structure for people to sit and look at the fabulous view of the bay or take time to study the copper topography of the island.
Our aim has been not only to provide an official start and finish place for the Coastal Way but also to enhance the whole area for all visitors.
